Lake Victoria
Lake Victoria, Africa's largest lake and the world's largest tropical lake, provides two thousand kilometers of stunning coastline for your lake safari in northern Tanzania.
Lake Victoria is the world's second biggest freshwater lake, with a surface area of about 26,000 square miles (68,000 square kilometers), a length of nearly 210 miles, a width of 150 miles, and a depth of up to 270 feet.
Rubondo, the "biggest island park in Africa," is one of the most beautiful islands in the lake, with grassland, deep woodland, and spectacular sandy coastlines.
The coastline is varied, with 300-foot cliffs and papyrus swamps at the Kagera River's delta, exit to the Victoria Nile, and flat, barren coastlines with a passage to the Gulf of Kavirondo or Winam Gulf.
The Speke Gulf, which curves towards the southeast, and the Emin Pasha Gulf, which curves in the southwest, are two further gulfs in the area.
During your cultural vacation in East Africa, you'll learn that Lake Victoria supports a variety of local enterprises, including fishing and coffee, maize, tea, and cotton production.
The area also acts as a regional economic hub, with a focus on telecommunications and transportation.
